起飛
飛機的前輪被掛在起飛裝置中，操作起飛裝置的官員必須知道飛機的型號和載重來調節起飛裝置。
爲了保護甲板上的人員和器械，在飛機後面要裝上遮罩飛機噴氣流的壁板。
飛行員在得到起飛許可後加足馬力，同時用刹車防止飛機運動。
在他得到起飛信號的同時他要放開刹車，同時起飛裝置起動，將飛機彈出跑道。這個過程一共持續1.5秒鐘。

彈射器
將現代化的艦載機由母艦的甲板上的彈射升空，必須使用飛機彈射器來進行。
母艦使用的飛機彈射器主要是C-11及C-13型兩種。C-11全長61m可以把重量32噸重的艦載機以200Km/h的速度彈射出去，而C-13則全長90m，它可以以255Km/h的速度彈射重量35噸重的艦載機。
